A huge scar on the community following tragic death of four young men

Cllr June Jones, Glaslyn Ward notice of motion

At full council recently, Gwynedd Councillor for Glaslyn Ward, June Jones took the opportunity to ask fellow councillors to support her call to update the rules for young drivers not to carry other young passengers before a six month driving period to gain experience of our roads following their test.

“This is an important issue that needs immediate action from Westminster Government's Department for Transport.” said Cllr June Jones.

“The horrific road traffic collision that occurred in my ward on the A4085 road near the village of Garreg, Llanfrothen last year has left a huge scar on this community.

“Four young men lost their lives, causing devastation to their families and friends. We must do more to ensure young people’s lives are given the best possibility to flourish. Devastatingly, this was not the case in Garreg last November 2023.

“The community’s thoughts continue to be with those families, and that is the reason I put forward this notice of motion at Cyngor Gwynedd today.”

The notice of motion was passed by Gwynedd Councillors at its full council meeting at Caernarfon on Thursday 5 of December 2024.
